Just force some more sportscaster women on the air and onto your audience. We love stilted ratios. Every show should have at least one woman and she should lead the conversations, and if there is ever a disagreement or a what about this conversation, the men must act like she won. She always can play the I’m cute and sassy card to dominate any convo.

It is so gratifying to watch that I never watch it anymore.

What do you mean, “a dying industry”? Sports are more popular than ever in my opinion. I enjoy Comcast Sports Net and the all the commentators! I think they’re all doing a good job. Like any industry, there will be changes, but all the replacements are equally good.

They are creating an atmosphere that makes people NOT watch. If they are expecting the broadcasts to fail…. They are setting it up to do just that !!!! Sad that they are sabbatoging themselves….I watch everyday….. At least is used to!

Decent piece (didn’t need Kyle’s uninformed take at the end), which is aided by Kinker actually having some experience in this end of the media spectrum.

Anyway 1 thing not mentioned here is the gazillion dollar deal Comcast has with the Phillies, that just kicked in this year. That can’t be lost in all these cost-saving moves. Also taking Ruben Frank off TV isn’t exactly a crazy idea. He’s…uhh….not a looker.

Regardless CSN is just in an impossible spot. I wonder if Comcast is following the Root Sports/At&T model. Those regional networks are in Denver, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Houston. They are super bare bones. They do nothing except for the game and some pre/post. Otherwise fill out programming with infomercials and a crap thing here or there. No attempt at reporting. No original content. No investment. Just the game. Maybe that’s the model going forward. The cable TV model, especially on a local level, might not exactly be sustainable.

They should bring back PRISM, all i remember about that channel from my childhood is Flyers games and “The Fugitive” on it non-stop. Honestly that line-up is better than the garbage shit they’ve had recently. “Breakfast on Broad”…yuck.

To be honest, I dont think you can look at any of the people that were let go and say they brought anything to the table to make a viewer watch. That doesnt mean they weren’t good at their jobs, but viewership has changed so much when you’re competing with hand held devices that unless you do something to GRAB an audience and some level of loyalty you’re ultimately not relevant. It’s the brutality of the market.

Perfect example is Molly Sullivan. She was “good” at her job, but her existence or non-existence has no relevancy on whether I watch.
