From NBC Sports Philadelphia to the Crossing Broad news desk, we have received a press release announcing the hire of Delran native Taryn Hatcher, who will begin next month as a “multi-platform host and reporter covering the Eagles, Flyers, Sixers and Phillies.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to welcome Taryn back home,\u201d said NBC Sports Philadelphia Vice President of Content, Michelle Murray. \u201cTaryn\u2019s knowledge and passion for Philly sports, combined with her ability to create content for multiple platforms, is a valuable skill that will allow her to make an immediate connection with fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

“It feels incredible\u00a0to join the team at NBC Sports Philadelphia,\u201d said Hatcher.\u00a0\u201cI grew up watching the Flyers, Eagles, Sixers and Phillies — I fell in love\u00a0with sports and wanted nothing more than to be a sports reporter. This has been my dream since childhood and I absolutely can’t wait to get started.”<\/p>\n

In her new role at NBC Sports Philadelphia, Hatcher will serve as a host and reporter primarily on\u00a0NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com<\/a>, and also serve in the same capacity on\u2013air, including filling in on\u00a0SportsNet Central<\/i>\u00a0as needed. A former network intern, she returns home from Hawaii News Now where she was a sports reporter since 2015. She was also a sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network.<\/p>\n

Taryn graduated from Rutgers University where she studied Journalism and Mass Media Studies, as well as Political Science. During that time, she also worked for the university radio station as a sports broadcaster, and interned at iHeart Radio in Philly, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, and in the sports department for WCBS-TV in New York.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Okay, so maybe she’s not Molly’s replacement. Or is she? I dunno. That job description is somewhat vague, though it does mention that she has past experience as a sideline reporter. She’ll be doing a bit of everything, I guess, which is sort of the prerequisite to work in TV these days, unless you were lucky enough to be grandfathered into some bloated union contract while the rest of us hustled to do four jobs at once for half the money.<\/p>\n

Anyway, Hatcher – no relation to Teri – starts on July 23rd. She played soccer in high school<\/a>, so she’s good in my book.<\/p>\n
