Kellen Moore fell on the sword in rather generic fashion for the safety that almost cost the Eagles the game on Sunday:<\/p>\n

“That one’s on me,” the Birds’ OC said on Tuesday. “That one’s simply on me, chasing a particular look that’s more traditional in the open field and we were backed up and that’s one where, hey, I’ll call something different in that situation based off of the way it played out… There’s things within (the sequence) but obviously but my number one focus is to put the guys in the best position to be successful and I didn’t feel like I did.”<\/p>\n

The second part of that quote is in response to a follow-up question about whether or not Hurts should have thrown it to the wide-open tight end in front of him, but Moore opted to vanilla his way out of it, as he usually does. He is probably the most boring Eagles quote since Mike “there is only one football” Groh. Regardless, we’re probably all in agreement that more than one thing can be true about that play:<\/p>\n

  1. Moore shouldn’t ask Hurts, who was just rolled up and almost had his leg broken, to take a five-step drop near his own goal line on 2nd and 6<\/li>\n
  2. Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson lost a 2v1<\/li>\n
  3. Hurts didn’t get rid of the ball despite having Goedert in front of him and Saquon Barkley to his left<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    ESP clipped the all-22 for the best angle. Let us never speak of this abomination of a sequence from now until the end of all time:<\/p>\n

    Some thoughts on the safety:<\/p>\n

    1) A safety should never happen when the ball is snapped on the 8-yard line. Thats bad by everyone.<\/p>\n

    2) I don\u2019t like the decision\/play call to have Hurts drop back into the end zone. Especially when he was already hurt at this point.<\/p>\n
